Also known as: Drunkard's Path, Robbing Peter to Pay Paul, Wonder of the World, Rocky Road
Curved quarter-circle units that create a winding path when arranged together.
Each Drunkard's Path unit has only two pieces: a convex quarter circle (the pie piece) and a concave background. The challenge lies in easing the curved seam smoothly. Pin at the center points first, then at each end, and finally ease the fabric between the pins. Clip the concave seam allowance every half inch to allow the fabric to spread along the curve. Sew slowly with the concave piece on top so you can control the easing. Press the seam toward the convex piece. Acrylic rulers and templates designed specifically for curved piecing ensure accuracy across many repeated units.
