Privacy Policy

QuiltLab is designed to make quilting joyful. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account details such as your name, email address, and billing information.
When you create an account, a first-touch snapshot of how you arrived (referrer hostname, landing page path, and UTM parameters if present). This is first-party account data used for attribution, not optional analytics.
Quilt project data, swatches, and other creative assets you upload to QuiltLab.
Messages you send to QuiltLab's AI assistant, bounded recent conversation text, a general page topic without route IDs, published Help Center passages, generated block geometry, fabric choices, and compact saved-asset details retrieved for your request. Asset details may include names, descriptions, tags, dimensions, color values, IDs, and bounded reference geometry. We do not automatically send unsaved editor content, selections, uploads, previews, or collaborator comments. Canvas, Pattern, and Diagram retrieval includes metadata only.
If you allow optional analytics, page visits, referral information, browser and device details, and interactions such as pricing selections and editor usage.
Error reports that keep QuiltLab working: a shortened error message, where in the app it happened, and, if you are signed in, an internal account identifier. They are kept without your content: we strip email addresses, access tokens, and quoted text before storing them, and never attach your name or email address. Error reports are part of operating the service, so they are kept whether or not you allow analytics.

Delivering and improving core QuiltLab functionality, including collaboration and autosave features.
Generating results for AI features you use. Requests are sent to AI model providers through Vercel AI Gateway to produce the result. GPT-6 Sol and Luna requests use the OpenAI Responses API with response storage disabled. OpenAI may still include prompt and response content in its default abuse-monitoring logs, retained for up to 30 days; account-level retention controls may shorten content retention, and legal or safety requirements may extend it. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models without explicit consent. Public help search runs locally without an AI provider. Signed-in AI requests are metered and are never included in analytics. Browser storage retains only an account-scoped conversation pointer; QuiltLab stores prompts and responses on our backend for up to 90 days.
Improving AI features using requests that have been reviewed and stripped of identifying details. You can opt out of this use from your account settings once AI features are available, without losing access to them.
Providing customer support and communicating important updates about the service.
Analyzing aggregated usage patterns to guide new product features while maintaining confidentiality of personal data.

Vercel Web Analytics runs for every visitor. It sets no cookies and counts page visits, pricing-page selections, referring sites, countries, and browser and device types in aggregate, with no personal identifiers.
Two kinds of analytics are optional and stay off until you accept them: Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager) and QuiltLab's own usage events. You can change that choice at any time using the Privacy choices control on this page, linked from the footer of every QuiltLab page, and in your account settings.
QuiltLab's usage events record when you open QuiltLab and which editor features you use, in our own database, and only when you are signed in and have accepted analytics. They are linked to an internal account identifier and your plan, never to your name or email address, do not include your uploaded content, and are deleted after 180 days. Declining or withdrawing consent stops them.
Error reports are not analytics. They are sent whatever you choose, as described above.

We do not sell your personal information. Limited sharing occurs only with service providers that help us operate QuiltLab, including authentication, hosting, analytics, payment, email, and AI model providers.
Access to production data is restricted to trained QuiltLab personnel, and all infrastructure follows industry-standard encryption and monitoring practices.
You can export or delete your account data at any time by contacting support@quiltlab.co.
