A quarter-circle fan in one corner of the block: a small hub, six wedge-shaped blades radiating from it, and a plain background; this drawing ends the blades on a smooth arc.

Construction Tips
Sew the blades into a fan, then join the hub and the background along curved seams (or applique both). Many versions give the blades pointed or rounded tips instead of a smooth outer arc.
