Also known as: Storm at Sea, Ocean Waves Variation, Rolling Sea
An undulating ocean wave illusion created from diamond-in-square units and rectangular connectors, using only straight seams.
Storm at Sea requires three different unit types: large center diamond-in-square, small corner diamond-in-square units, and rectangular connector units. Build each unit separately for accuracy. The center diamond-in-square is constructed by sewing triangles to all four sides of a center square. The rectangular units use smaller diamonds or squares on point. Careful color placement is essential -- the diamonds should be in one color family and the backgrounds in another to create the wave illusion. Press all seams consistently toward the darker fabric.
