Symmetrical strips added to opposite sides create a stepped, frame-like pattern.
Start with a center square, then add matched strips to the top and bottom simultaneously. Press, then add matched strips to the left and right. Continue alternating vertical and horizontal pairs. Each pair of strips should be cut the same length. Unlike the traditional Log Cabin, there is no light-dark split. Instead, use color values that graduate from dark in the center to light at the edges, or vice versa, to emphasize the stepping effect.
