Also known as: Maple Leaf, Tea Leaf, Autumn Leaf
A nine-patch leaf block with HST edges, solid leaf squares, and a slender stem.
Build the Maple Leaf on a nine-patch grid. Make 3 half-square triangle units for the leaf edges. The stem is a narrow strip (about 1/2" finished) set into the bottom-center square -- piece the stem between two background strips before assembling the nine-patch. Place the leaf-colored solid squares and HSTs to form the leaf shape pointing toward one corner. Press seams toward the darker fabric to reduce bulk.
